My Exercise NSV

I finally started exercising about a month ago and when I did, I found that I am so out of shape, that I can't do very much at a time. I started with Leslie Sansone's 1 mile "walk" (it's really more low impact aerobics IMO) and I am trying to work up to doing more. Last week I tried the 2 mile "walk" DVD and it pretty much kicked my butt, but I made it through the whole thing telling myself "I WILL NOT QUIT".
Anyway, I have been wanting to get up one morning and go walking outside like I used to years ago. For whatever reason, I always seem to talk myself out of it - the kids need me, laundry to do, I'm tired ...blah, blah, blah. Well today, I got up, changed into my workout gear, grabbed my Ipod, and told hubby "I'll be back within the hour". I started strong after warming up (even doing spurts of jogging!!) and halfway through I passed the road to my house and wanted to give up and go home...and then, it happened. The song on the Ipod changed and Pat Benatar sang these lyrics:
"This shattered dream you cannot justify.
We're gonna scream until we're satisfied.
What are we running for ? We've got the right to be angry.
What are we running for when there's nowhere we can run to anymore ?
We can't afford to be innocent
stand up and face the enemy.
It's a do or die situation - we will be invincible.
And with the power of conviction there is no sacrifice.
It's a do or die situation - we will be invincible."
I took some of those lyrics literally and asked myself "what am I running for?"...I'm running (well, walking/jogging) FOR ME!!
I need to "stand up and face the enemy"...MYSELF - No one else made me eat and be sedentary. I must focus on change!
"It's a do or die situation"...To live to see my 4 year old grow up, get married, and have kids of her own, I need to get HEALTHY!
"With the power of conviction there is no sacrifice"....I must stay FOCUSED - I am not sacrificing anything except bad habits and poor health.
I "WILL BE INVINCIBLE"...I chanted that and made it through the second half of 3 miles of walking/jogging including the many hills in my neighborhood.
This was a huge personal victory for me and I thought I'd share here for the first time. Sorry for the long winded post though!! lol

you need a dvd to walk 2 miles? really !!!!
well done tho , but seriously save your money , you dont need dvd's to keep fit, these beachbody people have a monopoly and people think they they need them.
You could have walked 2 miles quite easily yourself and saved some wonga
I haven't purchased any DVDs, I use the free ones on Exercise TV on Demand. The reason I chose them to get start walking is that I have a 4 year old and when my hubby is out of town, I can't take her with me to walk outside, so I "walk" inside.
It's a free country and this is a public forum, but believe it or not, sarcasm doesn't motivate anyone. Thanks for the "well done" though.0 -
That is a very inspirational NSV! You are invincible now:happy:0

I use exercisetv too and it has been a lifesaver! I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the Leslie sansone videos. I like them a lot and I find that she is really motivating! Sometimes you can't get outside to exercise and these on demand videos really save the day. Keep up the awesome work-before you know it you will be a runner!0
