    This thread reminds me of a story my friend told me about his cousin. She was going through the drive-thru at the bank, and whoever had gone before her had forgotten the envelope of money in the litle tube. There was $1000 in it! And she KEPT IT! she thought it wa rightfully hers because she "found" it! Well obviously the bank could figure out who came after that first person once they called the bank when they realized they left the money, so they called her and let her know they had her on surveillance video taking the money. She returned it but was mad about it! And this lady is in her 40's so it's not like she shouldn't know better, lol.

    I have found money at the self-serve checkout before and always take it up to the service desk. Found money at Target once and took it to customer service. IMHO, I would want someone else to do the same for me. However, I do pick up penny's I find in the parking lot and keep them.
