When did we get a 51st state?

Come on Georgia! We are the 18th unhealthiest... lets fix that!

It's too bad charts like this don't incite some competition - somebody needs to give Colorado a challenger!

Even the best state, Colorado, has an obesity percentage of 21.4. That's alarming. My state, Washington, is No. 28.

From Mass here and i feel a little sad that i don't have to blame my state on my fatness, but myself.
  • Well Wisconsin is right in the middle at 25. I did get fat after I moved here, but only because I stopped moving.

To be fair, with a large percentage of the leanest states, you can't afford to live there AND eat.

And Rhode Island is so small, only skinny people will fit there.

Washington is 28. This surprises me with all our natural hiking trails, lake access, and centennial trail. We should be lower.

I must say... the order isn't too shocking to me. But... the % obese and/or overweight is a bit higher than I thought across the board!

I was interested to see how Australia fares:

    Number of overweight adults:
QLD - 1,259,700 (48.4 per cent of population)
    NSW - 2,226,500 (45.9 per cent)
    VIC - 1,634,200 (45.9 per cent)
    WA - 619,700 (45.3 per cent)
    TAS - 155,700 (45.2 per cent)
    SA - 504,200 (44.8 per cent)

People who say they don't exercise
    NSW: 32.9 per cent
    QLD: 31.4 per cent
    SA: 31.1 per cent
    TAS: 30.9 per cent
    WA: 27.7 per cent
    VIC: 27.6 per cent

People who have attempted to lose weight over the past two years
    SA: 60 per cent
    VIC: 53 per cent
    QLD: 51 per cent
    NSW: 50 per cent
    WA: 48 per cent
    TAS: 40 per cent

 it's not THAT expensive to live here! Plus in CT we're a whole mess of contradictions. Most millionaires per capita...and the poorest capital in the nation. lol

    #40! Let's go Californians!
  • 6 years and counting- we're #1.

Usually that's cause for celebration. Too bad this isn't one of those situations.

Washington is on the leaner side but I think we were doing better before the economy made it more difficult to eat. My family is from Louisiana but has lived in Mississippi for decades. They are all obese or morbidly obese. Breaks my heart to watch them destroy themselves. All I can do is set the example and hope they get a clue before I have to bury any more of them in an untimely way due to complications of obesity.

Pennsylvania. #28. Surprised it isn't lower. I never see too many fit people unless it's at a gym or trail.
