Thinking you were smaller than you really were?

Has anyone else on here ever thought they were smaller than they really were, then after looking at pictures thinking "WOW I never knew I was that big" ?
It just got me thinking now as i'm going through some pictures on facebook from a few years ago I always thought I was a decent size (don't know how I thought that) but all my friends are skinny so I guess in my mind I thought I couldn't be really overweight then I was brought to a rude awakening when I saw some of those old photos I was completely embarassed and was shocked that it was really me; yet here I was always pointing out that that girl or guy in that photo is huge meanwhile I was just as bad. It also kind of shocked me after I lost 23 pounds hearing people telling me I lost a lot of weight and i'm starting to slim down more and I kept saying to myself "wow how big was I really" as my naive self thought after 20 pounds i'd be skinny. I know I still have a ways to go as I want to lose 30 more but now after down 23 I still don't see any changes.

Throughout High School I knew I was fat but I didn't realize HOW fat. I didn't know anything about BMI or that at a certain weight you're concidered obese. I just thought I was overweight. After I started losing weight, I gained more knowledge and saw pictures (which I rarely allowed anyone to take) and was completely flabergasted. I just sat there saying, "I had no idea... and why didn't anyone TELL ME" I was mad, haha.0

i know the feeling!! i couldn't believe it--when i looked back at old pictures when i thought i looked fantastic, i saw how big i actually was! it really gets you in a weird mental state--i always feel like maybe i just think i look good, when i really don't!0

I'm having a hard time lately because I'm thinking this in a way... my clothes fit great and I feel great, but for whatever reason photos lately are showing me that my face is getting WAY rounder but I'm not gaining any weight. It's getting me down and I don't want to take any photos recently... and I'm kind of thinking "wtf"... how is this happening?0

Yes! Yes! YES! I just saw pics of myself with short hair, double chin, and awful clothes. I was like, "what the heck was I thinking!" LOL! I, too, have a ways to go to my target weight, but I'm better now than I was before, so I will take those pictures as even more motivation to not be "THAT" girl again! :0)0

It's ironic that when you are at a heavier weight you feel on top of the world but when you are smaller you just don't see to see it.0
