Abdominal Injury - advise please!!!

Hi I ran a 5k race yesterday which was all ok in general. I have run a few before & longer & train to that distance on a regular basis so being fit enough or lack of training isn't the issue.
My problem was I got what I thought at the time was a stitch in the first 10 yards which did wear off after a couple of minutes. It was Quite painful & i thought i would have to stop initially. Didn't cause a problem for the rest of the race. I have never had this before so put it down to eating a different brekkie (poached eggs on White toast) instead of my usual pre-race banana & porridge.
However, although I can't feel it now generally, if I press into my side at the point where it hurt yesterday it still feels quite tender. The muscle doesn't feel knotted or any different to the other side.
Has anyone else had this before & if it was a stitch why would it still feel sore to the touch today? Also should it just wear off?
I won't be running again til weds so will see what its like then but any suggestions would be great!!

Abdominal pain can be very elusive. I had a similar problem a couple of months ago and it turned out not to be related at all to the muscle. Rest is just about the only thing you can do for it, and it is very likely to take much longer than you want it to. But I would recommend checking with your doctor just in case there is something going on with that pain other than the muscle.0
