About a week ago I started using a premarin cream for some scarring (down there). Since then I have gained FOUR lbs. My feet yesterday were swollen like when I was pregnant. I feel sooo puffy and my lower stomach is aching. Any experience?? Ideas? I have to do it for a month. If this keeps up there is no way.

Help

Google tells me that it's an estrogen cream? I think it would all be normal side effects, I get the same ones when I'm on hormonal birth control because of the estrogen.

Did you know that Premarin is made from pregnant mare (horse) urine? It is produced in a wildly inhumane manner. Almost all of the babies that result from keeping the mares pregnant go straight to slaughter. The pregnant horses are kept in standing stalls with urine collection bags attached to them.

Think about that for treatment of something superficial. If it is taken for HRT there are PLENTY of other options that do not promote such cruelty.

    Food for thought.

    http://www.premarin.org/estrogen.html

The most common side effects include enlargement or tenderness of the breasts (both sexes), swelling of the ankles and legs, loss of appetite, weight changes, retention of water, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and feeling of bloatedness. The estrogen patch can cause skin rash, irritation, and redness at the patch site.

Less common side effects are bleeding gums, breakthrough vaginal bleeding, vaginal spotting, changes in menstrual flow, painful menstruation. pre-menstrual syndrome, no menstrual period during and after estrogen use, enlargement of uterine fibroids, vaginal infection with Candida, a cystitis-like syndrome, mild diarrhea, jaundice or yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, rash, loss of scalp hair, and development of new hairy areas. Lesions of the eye and contact-lens intolerance have also been associated with estrogen therapy. You may experience migraine headache, mild dizziness, depression, and increased sex drive (women) or decreased sex drive (men).

Rare side effects include stroke, blood-clot formation, dribbling or sudden passage of urine, loss of coordination, chest pains, leg pains, difficulty breathing, slurred speech, and vision changes. Men who receive large estrogen doses as part of the treatment for prostate cancer are at a greater risk for heart attack, phlebitis, and blood clots in the lungs.

i was under the impression that had been pulled off the market due to nasty side effects. i scar easily but found that, believe it or not, really thick shea butter lotion and a little neosporin works wonders

I had a vaginal hernia that was repaired in June. The internal vaginal scarring has made it "uncomforable" for both my husband and I when we are snuggling. This was the choice to thin out that area or another surgery to repair the scarring.

Sorry if that is TMI... I've never taken estrogen anything.

I didn't know it came from horses.
I think I'm going to stop for now and check back with the doc. My feet are swollen again today. Thanks for all of the thoughts.

Down there is ... down there... down under is Australia/New Zealand and I much rather be discussing that :o)
