Oil calories in packed foods?

I love canned and jarred(sp?) items--like tuna, sardines, mushrooms, oysters, artichoke hearts... I know some things are packed in oil. Maybe I'm over thinking things, but I don't consume most of the oil--not that I can help. I drain it off, sometimes rinse it off as well. Would that change the calorie count?

I'm pretty sure the calories listed on those types of food already assumes that you'll be pouring off the excess oil.

No, they probably don't. In the US at least, they're going to be the contents of the entire can (jar or whatever). The easiest way to estimate is to drain the oil into a measuring cup and take that many calories out of the total. Most oils are around 120 Cal per tablespoon.

ETA: You can do the same thing when you brown ground beef. Measure the excess you pour off.
