My name is Amanda and I'm so excited to be a part of the community! I want to pay it forward as much as possible with a heartfelt thank you to all of you here. As in every challenge, threat and obstacle, there is one thing you can always can count on: Strength in numbers! I’m looking forward to reading about our victories, challenges, setbacks, innovative ideas and tasty recipes.

I think the hardest thing to remember, is that there is absolutely nothing we cannot do. There may be things we won’t do, but there is nothing we can’t do. I’ve been on this journey of a healthier lifestyle for two years and I could not be happier. Sure, there have been times in there where I’ve lost track due to ego and/or caught myself adhering to comfort level below my true potential prior to meeting my personal goals. Like a lot of people there have been times when I’ve let life get in the way (and not fully enjoying it when it did). Though not a suffer of depression, I’ve had my days of darkness and each time, I’ve realized the importance of listening to that voice inside that says, “Enough!”

I’m excited to join all of you committed to making yourself a priority! We’re worth it, our families are worth it and our friends are worth it. I’m committed to making the right food and exercise choices every single day; no excuses! (With small “cheat day” rewards, of course, to keep on track!) I’m committed to early morning cardio workouts before everything else absorbs my day and evening. Each scheduled evening, I’m committed to strength training for 30 minutes with intervals of cardio. I know there have been times when a weight gain instead of a loss has thrown me completely off track, but the thing I learned: It does not get better on it’s own. Therefore, if darkness falls after the scale reads on the plus side, I’m committed to taking control.

The water weight is gone, now it’s just simple math; calories out must be greater than calories in!
I’m committed to you, myself, our goals and celebrating each small victory along the way.

I’m glad you’ve decided to make a change and stand up for yourself. As I challenge my boyfriend and partner in this journey: Finish what you start. When you scream on those last five reps or two minutes of cardio do 5 more because that scream means you’ve got it in you!

We've got this!!!

Thanks for the encouraging words and welcome!! Gee, I wanna' go hit the weights now!! :)
  • Hey Blazer! I hope those weights treated you well, but not too well :o)
I get the sense that you are generally the one inspiring everyone else! What keeps you motivated or pulls you up when you're not feeling it?

Take care and keep the attitude flowing! Time for my evening session!

    Hey Amanda!

You know, I just try to live my life to the fullest and enjoy what I've been blessed with, and if it just so happens that someone is inspired by me and my life, then I suppose that's icing on the cake. ;-) OH, wait .... we're trying to avoid cake icing ... I mean, that's why we're here on MFP, right?? ;-) Seriously, though, it is a blessing if I can in anyway whatsoever inspire someone else.

There are plenty of afternoons when I get home from work that I'm just tired and not really feeling into exercising, but then I get on MFP and I see where so and so burned 550 calories doing this and someone else burned 380 calories walking and so forth ... and then I see some of the pics of people that are getting toned and trim ... and then I think of some of MY old pics where I was out of shape!! ... and then I read posts like yours on the forums! ... all of those things contribute to motivating me to exercise. Sometimes I think about the fact that the Good Lord has given me this body to take care of, and I know that I certainly haven't done the best at that in the past ... I mean, after all, I broke it! ;-) ... so that makes me get up and move too! Plus, as you said, we're worth it and so are our families and friends and I think that's kind of what it all boils down to ... how much do we actually care about ourselves and those that are near and dear to us?

So, let's just keep the motivation going!! Hope you had a killer evening session!! :-D

    ~Michael
