i reached my goal weight last week and am thinking of changing my mode to 'maintain'. I understand that by doing so, it will increse my cal intake amount. I do worry that it may lead to gaining back some pounds...

After you reach your goal, do you change it to 'maintain' or do you keep the same mode so that you will keep the same calorie intake amount?

  • Someone on here increased their daily allowance by 50 calories each week, going up gradually to get their body used to consuming their maintenance amount. I'm gonna do that when I reach my goal weight.

If you weigh yourself on at least a weekly basis you'll know whether or not you're gaining weight in maintenance mode. If you do, cut back calories until you're back to your goal weight and then add less for your new maintenance goal. Although I like the idea of just adding more calories in each week until you reach the point where you're not seeing much movement in the scale and hovering right around your goal weight. The real secret is to keep weighing yourself weekly so you know that what you're doing is working.

I see, I'll never know till I actually try it out! I weight myself everyday so it might be easier to tell as well. Thanks!
  • I switched to maintenance, it tells me how many to eat, and I usually am about that or 100 less and maintain well as long as I behave carb wise. I still weight at least every other day, if not daily. I like to know how what I eat affects me, so I learn what not to eat often. Wine makes me gain 2lbs back so I know not to do it alot :)
