Results and Recovery Formula

Well.... this whole topic has been so confusing to me. Prior to doing this Insanity program, I tried Bill Phillips Body for Life program but that didn't work for me. Having only a book as a guide may help others but not me. I need a real life person, visuals instructions, and someone helping me to "push" forward. Anyway, that aside, I did however, learn lots of valuable health information from Bill that has helped me in many ways and his meals plans and dishes are really good.
One thing he did mention that stuck out to me was eating an hour after you workout. He stresses waiting exactly 60 minutes because during those 60 minutes your body is still burning calories and at it's max. However, I am most hungry after a workout, and waiting that long makes me lose my appetite, or I get into doing something else, or I start cooking which ends up taking much longer and by the time that's done its been 2 hours since my last workout and I still have yet to eat.
Well, with Shaun T's "Inanity" he stresses (as well as P90x customers) to drink your results and recovery formula after your work out. Others on you tube have given alternative suggestions for those (like me) who may be short on cash and who may not have the formula at hand. I know that its 4 to 1 ration 4 parts carbs and 1 part protein ( 40g to 10g etc.). I just made something up - whey protein shake, 1/2 apple, 1/2 banana (I added the banana to my shake) and had it maybe 30 minutes after my insanity workout. Honestly, I've never felt better - I'm not starving and miserable and waiting around to eat. We'll see how it will help with my performance tomorrow.
What do you think and how do you help your muscles to recover after a workout?

same thing - I have done BFL (actually with great results about 10 years ago) when I did BFL I usually waited the one hour (on cardio days) to eat but would eat something right after a workout.
Now when I am working out, I have a protein drink (whey and/or a recovery drink...whey and carbs) after a session with weights.
After cardio - I just eat my meal when I'm hungry.
sounds like you are on the right track!0 -
I believe that with BFL the 1 hr wait was after the morning fasted cardio; not weight training.
Regardless, I've become convinced that timing doesn't really matter. Create an eating schedule that is most comfortable for your body and your schedule and hit your calorie and macro targets. Don't get too caught up in the timing stuff.0 -
I was like you...got busy, then before I knew it, several hours had passed. My favorite recovery drink is Rockin' Refuel chocolate milk. It tastes great and it's easily accessible in the fridge.0
