Hello everyone! I have been using MFP off and on for about a year. Oct 1st 2009 I started a 1200 calorie diet and by March of that year I had lost 40 lbs. By my one year mark, I lost a total of 51 lbs! It was all about writing down EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. I didn't exercise much at all. I would walk the dog, or go for brisk walks of about 2 miles and did bicep/tricep exercises off and on. I am approaching my 2 year mark and have only gained back about 7 lbs. Now, I am back to tracking my food intake and want to up my exercise level.

I need some support and motivation! I just moved to Philadelphia and live in the city..love it! I walk everywhere I go and have started doing the weights again. I bought a jump rope and am going to start to try and do that at least 3 times a week. I was thinking of joining the gym, but I know that I usually end up getting bored. Thought I might try spinning, Zumba and a few other classes? How do you guys that do spinning like it? Any classes that you feel give you the best overall workout? Anyone in Philly??

I am in Center City :D I belong to City Fitness gym at 2nd and Spring Garden, and I work at 3rd and Spring Garden. I am doing personal training 3 days a week (30 minute sessions) with JP, he ROCKS. I also add in one night a week of about 25 minuts of high intensity intervals on the treadmill -- run super fast for me (about 7.5 to 8.-0 MPH) for 145 seconds to 1 minute; recover by walking for about 1.5 minutes; repeat.

Enjoy Center City! I moved to the suburbs from Center City when my son turned 1, but when he goes to college, my husband and I will for sure return.
  • Hey! I've lived in Philly for about a year now but i'm still pretty new. I'm starting a Philly runners club around center city and if you're interested you should check it out. We will be a "walk jog run" group so its welcome for anyone on any level of fitness not just runners.
