I'm excited to restart exercising after a long end-of-dance-team, graduating, studying-for-GRE break.

So when I workout, I love love LOVE high intensity, kick my butt workouts... but I no longer have a gym membership and am looking into at-home programs. The final two for me have come down to Insanity and Turbofire.

I'm nervous because I don't wanna bulk up (because I tend to) but when I look at the Turbofire results, a lot of the participants abs are bulging in front instead of being truly flat.

Just looking for some feedback from people who have done either or both please :)

Hey, I have not done Insanity but have been doing Turbo Fire on and off for a year now and just can't live without it! If you are a dancer you will love it. The music is kick butt, and gets you soooo motivated. I love high intensity too, and have kinda hit a plateau with it now, so looking into something similar but it crushes me to think of taking a Turbo Fire break! Hope that helps a little.

Insanity more like speed and agility Turbo Fire kickboxing based. So what do you like more.
  • I have done both and I love both, but would have to say I love Turbo Fire because it is high energy, it has AWESOME music that keeps you pumped up and Chalene is always motivating. I do not know how you would bulk up from Turbo fire it has a bands workout and then is mostly cardio and core.

You will not get that much muscle lol! It takes a REALLY long time to put on muscle weight and you need to be eating a calorie surplus to make them bigger at all. Your muscles can't create new mass out of thin air. Your muscles will get stronger, though, and you will lose fat making them more defined.

Funny, I was a dancer too! From 5yrs old to college, but I personally loved INSANITY!! Very hard impact and major butt kicker. Turbofire just wasn't for me. Didnt get great burns like I did with Insanity.

    Good luck!

I haven't done Insanity, I have done TurboFire and I absolutely love it!! I've also done Chalean Extreme and TurboJam. I love them all. You don't have to worry about bulking up, it's a myth that when women build muscle they will "bulk up". To bulk up you have to specially train to do that and have a very specialized diet. Building muscle actually does the contrary for women, it makes us leaner, stronger and toned (not buff). I am a Beachbody coach and if you don't already have a Coach in mind, I would love to be there for you to help you out, motivate you and work out right along side you (virtually of course)! :D You can order TurboFire through my website (www.beachbodycoach.com/skinnyphoenix) and get all signed up on Beachbody and then just add me (my username is the same as on here SkinnyPhoenix), if you already have someone you are working with that's totally cool and I wish you the best in whichever program you choose. Beachbody products are all very awesome!!

    Happy Fitness!!

I've never really thought about it like that. I'm already aware of how much I love kickboxing, but I'm curious as to how much I would like the speed and agility aspect as I think it could have a lot of benefits... Great point, thanks so much!!

  • I have done both, I really liked Insanity different pace and really pushes you. I am currently doing Turbo Fire and love the energy from Chalene and the music.
