Do you use your HRM for your warm ups & cool downs?

I have the polar FT4. I put on the watch and chest strap before I start the workout, but I don't push the "start" button on the watch until the warm up is finished and I actually start the workout. I push the "stop" button when he workout is finished, and I begin my cooldown. So the calories my HRM counts is only for the actual workout.

Do you all do the same? Or do you use your HRM from start to finish, including the warmup & cooldown?

    start to finish......

    my warm up is just a few stretches and squats before the elliptica,l and my cool down is walking around house till heart rate comes back down about 20 beats per minute...so it is not excessive.
  • I use my Polar as do you. I am more interested in the affect of exercise on my HR, not cooldown.

    I start at warm-up, but stop right after, then cooldown w/o it. A happy medium if you will.
