Walking calories question

I am a little confused here. I notice when I walk the same amount of time at the same pace as some of my friends, we all burn different amounts of calories. Is it because everyone is at a different weight?

Yes, heavier people will burn more calories0

Everyone has a different metabolism. Someone who has a high metabolism will burn more calories than someone with a sluggish metabolism. Furthermore, height, weight, and exertion level all factor into calories burned. If you are using a calorie monitor on a machine at a gym though, it is probably horribly inaccurate.0

Yes, as you lose you will burn even less for the same amount of time. The smaller you are the harder you have to work.0

I always wonder how I can get a more accurate number after doing some work out, like fast walk, for example. I know it's impossible to get absolutely accurate, but next to accurate?0

I use an HRM. It's the only close way to know what you're burning. Mine is a Polar and I love it!0
