I may have just wasted my $ on the iphone app since i can run 2.5 miles without stopping already and i just started jogging around 3 weeks ago. But i heard too many good things about it!

You can always follow the C210K instead...

It is mostly for people who have never run before, but it can be used by people wanting to reach that 5K mark, just start in a later week to start building more endurance. Then get the bridge to 10K program next :D

Not sure what the iphone app does, if it just tells you what to do then you wasted your money any way because you can find the program details for free online. If you can run 2.5 miles then I'm guessing adding another half mile wouldn't be a problem so the couch to 5k (3 miles) wouldn't be needed.

Maybe you can just start at week 6 or 7 or something, and finish out to make the 5k.

    Use it for speed work.
  • I agree. Jump to later weeks in the program and incorporate speed work. This site is useful. http://www.runningplanet.com/training/5K-workouts-goal-pace-progressive.html

If you're looking to increase your pace, I HIGHLY recommend Podrunner at www.podrunner.com! DJ Steve Boyett makes hour long mixes and arranges them by beats per minute. You can download the music straight to your computer. If you need a little more guidance, check out the Podrunner Intervals. The music cues you in when you should speed up and slow down. I used the Freeway to 10K program to train for a half marathon before I built up enough endurance for long, consecutive runs. Best thing about it is it's FREE! http://www.djsteveboy.com/intervals.html

    Good luck!
