Hi MFP/30 DS people!

I just did L1 D7 and I have a few questions to throw out there:

1: Does it still work as well if I skip a day here or there? I've only skipped Saturday so far but thinking about going to zumba tomorrow and definitely won't have time for both.

2. Is it normal to gain a little weight at the beginning (I've been pretty good with eating so I'm reasonably sure that's not it)?

3. My HRM (timex ironman) says I'm burning ~360 calories each time. Could that possibly be true?

Thanks!

    1. I'm sure it will still work, but it is designed to be a 30 day consecutive workout. If you're going to skip days, make sure it's only one and make sure it's not that often. (just my opinion of course)

    2. I would think that's fine. From 30ds success stories, I've seen that the biggest change is in inches, not pounds. You should be building up your muscles during this, and muscle weighs more than fat!

    3. I don't have a HRM and I usually just use circuit training when I record it, but I think that number is highly plausible. It's a tough workout! It will be interesting to see if you burn more at level 2 and 3.

    1. Yes, u can skip a day and not derail your efforts.

    2. Gaining weight could simply be due to the fact that u have started a new routine and your body is trying to adjust. I have heard of numerous people who found that doing the shred resulted in little or no weight loss. You will lose in inches so I suggest taking measurements or before/after pictures so u can see the results.

    3. When I first started the shred I used to burn a crapload. Now I only burn about 170/180. Some of my mfpals doing the shred burn in the 300s so your hrm is probably accurate.

    Good luck!
  • Hello. We are on the same level, same day. To be honest, I've been pairing it up with another workout video but I think the shred is doing the majority of changes. You're supposed to do it for 30 days straight but I've skipped some days in between because I pulled something and I have seen some results. I'm also stronger in some areas (I can do push ups) and it seems like I've lost more inches than anything, I'm normally an 16/18 but I tried on size 15 jeans and they fit. She does enough cardio/strength training for it to still be effective just as if you were only using her 3 days a week. A little goes a long way.

I think it is normal, I've also been eating really well (under like 1,400 calories most days) and I workout with her and another dvd at least 4 times a week and I noticed I gained 2 lbs and loss 1lb so I believe it's muscle because I see and feel definition in my legs.

Not sure if you're burning 360 calories but it may be possible. I choose general circuit and it says 333. Your heart rate will tell you personally how much you are burning so I believe it's right.

And my weight actually dropped this am (whew!) I think I need to stop getting on the scale so often!
