Hello

I am currently in the application process for the police force.

I did a beep test on Saturday and got a 4.4
I need a 6.3

Has anyone trained for a beep test before?
What worked for you?
Any hints and tips?

I don't have easy access to a basketball court or a tennis court to practise on, just grass, which is far from ideal.

Thanks in advance

I've done the beep test, but have never trained for it. If you improve overall running/jogging that would help. I would suggest jogging slowly and use a timer and increase your speed every minute. You could do it on a treadmill as well. either that or find a field and estimate the proper distance.

Beep test is simple long-term aerobics work.

Try doing a C25K program or something similar. Completing that should get you close to your beep test goals.

As for strategy for actually running the test, try to time your run such that you don't stop. You want to touch the line as the beep is sounding. Start/stop activity tends to waste excess energy, especially since you need to do a 180 every time.
