Questions about Body for Life

I have just ordered the body for llife book. To my understanding, it is a high protein/higher cal diet. So those of you who have done body for life, did you count you calories? Did you follow the exercise program? Right now I lift 3 days and I run 2-3 days. Does that mean I can't run and can only do HIIT for my cardio? How were your results with the program?
