Help! Glass frozen to my freezer!
So my roommates and I keep filtered water in a glass bottle. Because apparently no one ever refills it but me, last night I stuck it in the freezer for a brief while to get it cold enough to drink since I was thirsty. Well, long story short we forgot about it and this morning we opened the freezer to a shattered bottle. Now the shards of glass are completely frozen to the freezer (since the water came out when it shattered).
Any idea how to remove the glass safely and without damaging the frozen food by defrosting the freezer?
Thanks

I would take a towel, get it wet with warm water, not too, don't want to crack the glass. Wring it out well, and then wipe the bottle down with it trying to get the areas that are frozen to the freezer especially. Just be really careful you don't break the glass and then you'll have a mess. Good luck0

It already is broken - that's why she needs help! The warm water on a towel will help though. Be careful to not cut yourself.0

If all else fails get a cooler and ice to pack everything in and then do what ever you need to defrost and clean out the mess.0

I would put the frozen items in the fridge and use hot water to quickly defrost the ice around the glass. I use a pot of hot water and use a turkey baster to squirt water where I need it. Good luck!0

Put all the food in a pile and preferrably insulate it. Spend the ten minutes it takes to defrost the freezer using lots of warm water and mopping (I assume it's a modern frost-free without much ice anyway?) to remove glass. Re-install food0

Yeah, I'd say a defrost is the only safe way to do it. A cooler works fine.0

Hair Dryer0

no shortcuts here, you have to defrost & get all the glass out. very dangerous
Please don't put glass in the freezer0 -
Hair Dryer
I used to use a hair dryer to help defrost an ancient fridge that had to be manually defrosted. Take everything out, put it into an ice chest/cooler then use the hair dryer to defrost the ice around the glass and clean out the freezer. Go through the food as you put it back in, and toss out anything that's freezer burnt or old. Upside? You won't need to clean the freezer out again for a while.0 -
I did this with a coke zero last night! Woke up, knew I had a coke somewhere and there it was...exploded all over the freezer. Good luck with the glass - be careful!0

Wow! I should have read the WHOLE post. no excuse for my ignorance, but I going to claim exhaustion. Hubby and oldest daughter got home at 2:30 this morning. I didn't sleep well. Mea Culpa0 -
Sorry hun, you're going to have to empty your freezer (wrap frozen foods like meat in blankets if you don't have a cooler) and defrost it to get them out. Be a good time to clean out the freezer.0

Hope you didn't have too much in there tho! With my luck (Hubs has decided that sticking his glass in the freezer is an awesome idea these days too...) It's gonna happen to me now! :ohwell:
