Checking your reports - RDA% worries?

I've just realised the reports feature can be really useful in tracking things other than calories.
I was looking to see what my iron levels have been and got carried away looking at the rest of my nutrition. I've been good at focusing on fats and proteins and overall calories, but hadn't taken much notice of the rest of my diet. I thought I had a balanced diet but am clearly lacking in iron and calcium.
Details are below (for my report) but I'm wondering what levels the RDA's are set at on MFP? Are they for males, american, british, government guidlines?
I have just checked my iron levels for the last 30 days. Four of those days it was at 60% of my RDA (from weetabix which is fortified with iron) and the rest of the days it was below 30% of my RDA.
Calcium is also way down at less than 30% average.
Good news I think is that sodium averages 1200mg and has never peaked above 2000mg, Trans fats have always been zero. Vitamin C is through the roof at 1000% - 4000% above my RDA!
I thought it was interesting and shall be taking an iron supplement from now on I think. Yes, I could eat more of something, but I'm eating a healthy diet that fits (just) with my lifestyle. I don't think there is much room for anything else!

Well, vitamin C helps your body absorb the iron from food, so maybe you have less to worry about than you thought! Another thing - sometimes people enter food in the database and don't take to time to add all of the other nutrient values, so it may look like you are getting less than you really are. I just try to eat lean protein, whole grain, vegetables and fruit, and take a generic multivitamin almost every day and not owrry about it. It's better than what I used to eat...
Good on the sodium - that's my downfall. Less sodium means less weight fluctuations from water retention.0 -
Good thinking about the data inputted, thanks.
I'll take a look at some of my most commonly eaten foods and see what they contain, I maybe am getting enough as it is )0
