Motivation of the Furry Kind

I was debating on whether or not to go out for a walk/jog tonight. Hemming and hawwing back and forth.....back and forth....it was warm outside.....my nose was kind of stuffy...I'm sure that is something that needs to be washed/cleaned...hmmm....
Well, I put on my workout clothes anyway...thinking maybe I could call the neighbor to see if she wanted to go with me. That would be some motivation.
I walked out of the bedroom in my shorts and shirt. No socks, no tennis shoes....nothing else that would reveal my intentions (just in case I wanted to change my mind).
Then she looked at me. Wendy. Dear sweet, Wendy. She began yipping and yapping and getting all excited. For heavens sake, dog, I don't even have a leash in my hand!
How on Earth could she tell what I was contemplating? Does she know by the clothes I am wearing? Or the hair in a pony tail?Either way, that sealed the deal. I couldn't let her down.
Grabbed my music and her leash and we were off!

Jogging with my pup has physical and emotional rewards...for both of us :-)
Thank you Wendy!!!

I have a chow mix named Axel that absolutely loves walks. He spends the afternoon pouting if we don't go out for one, so it is becoming more of a habit now. I just can't resist those sad brown eyes!

My pup does the same... and I have only taken her out for an exercise walk like three times now. But I guess she can feel it!

Many many nights have been just like that for me too. I have 2 boxers and a mastiff. The boxers can go for miles (and we do) and when I get home, beat and sweaty, I still have to walk my old, blind mastiff up about 3 houses and home so that he thinks he got a big walk too. But a happy dog is nothing short of a miracle to me, and the exercise for me is just an added bonus.
  • You know that sticker you see on some people's cars..the one that says Who Rescued Who? Well - my boxer/heeler mix - he rescued me. That 35 pounds on my ticker...it's mostly because I walk him every day without fail. MFP is the reason I changed my eating habits - but the dog - he's the reason why I'm doing my first 10K in 2 weeks.
