How often do you weigh yourself?

People often have asked me here how often I weigh myself, so I will explain the when and the why...

I weigh myself daily, multiple times. Ive been doing this for quite some time now.

The reason for this is I like to see the reactions on the scale to my daily activities. Especially when running, I like to monitor weight before and after a run to see how much water my body is losing during that particular run. I also like to see how much water the body is actually retaining on days where Ive had a higher amount of sodium. I like to compare morning/evening fluctuations.

I do a lot of analyzing, but I dont let any number dictate to me my success/failure for that particular day/week.

I do have 1 official Weigh-In, which is on Saturday mornings at 9AM at my weight watchers meeting.

So for those of you who are friends of mine and often wonder about it, now you know! If you dont see weight post on any particular day, it means that I went up that morning.

Feel free to chime in on your weighing routines...

I have weighed myself during the week as well just to make sure I am on track and not retaining a bunch of water. I have one official weigh in as well and it is on Sunday mornings first thing, no clothes and before any food or drink. I like weighing in on Sundays so it keeps me in check on the weekends as those seem to be too much of a temptation when you get out of a normal work week routine.

How long have you been doing WW? I used to do it before I started here and now I just stick with counting calories and not worry about the points.

It's depends on whether or not my scale is being hateful. If it's giving me numbers I like to see, I am friendly and give it daily attention. If it toys with my emotions and gives me higher numbers, I shove it under my couch and only visit it weekly :P

I weigh almost every day. The day after a cheat day, I may allow myself to skip it. And I'm really trying hard not to weigh myself on the mornings of my skating. It just messes with my mind if the scale is unkind. Like this morning. I really wanted to weigh myself. But I didn't because I was heading to the rink. Otherwise, I weigh myself only first thing in the morning, after using the facilities, and totally nekkid. I don't weigh any other time during the day.

Joined WW 5/09, I dont do the points plus system, I stick to tracking here on MFP.. I mainly use WW for the meetings and the support system.. I love my meetings, the leader and the people in my meeting!

I weigh myself daily. I don't bother checking at night. It would probably give me an anxiety attack if I did. I only weigh in once a week.

Once a week, Monday night. That's when the truth of the weekend is best seen because weekends are the most brutal for me. It encourages me on Friday night knowing my day of reckoning is a mere three days away.

I also weigh myself before and after I run, because I am trying to figure hydration...otherwise, once a day first thing in AM.

I do it every morning... though I shouldn't ha ha. The last couple of weeks since I have implemented exercise my weight keeps fluctuating. I should probably have my hubby steal the scale and hide it so I won't compulsively check it. lol

I weigh daily, a couple times a day, first thing in the morning and later in the evening. I like to know what my body is up to and see how foods and exercise are sitting with me. I only count official weigh-ins on Thursday mornings, and that is when I record my progress on MFP. The daily weighing is just out of curiosity and to see what is up. I don't let it discourage me as its easy to fluctuate + or - several pounds a day, throughout the day.

I'm a compulsive weigher also. I travel quite a bit and can't weigh myself when I'm on the road, so when I'm home I'm on the scale every time I go to the bathroom. It helps me keep in mind how much weight fluctuates so I don't get so discouraged.
  • I keep thinking that I should change how I weigh myself, I generally wake up in the morning and weigh myself after going to the bathroom, then I do Yoga. I have been thinking of just weighing myself every other day, but for now I like the progress I am getting weighing myself everyday (I generally go down 0.4 - 0.8 from day to day.)
  • I used to weigh myself several times a day and would get so discouraged when the # stayed the same or went up. The thing with working out regularly and strength training is that the # on the scale is going to do weird things and you have to also pay attention to how your clothes are fitting. I've put the scale away and only bring it out once a week, on Friday morning. It helps me gauge how I've done all week and if I get a little treat over the weekend or not.

Two weeks since my last weigh-in. Before that it was daily and sometimes twice a day. I have given up on the scale as she is a lying cheating *kitten* who only sit in the corner and take my joy after a 2 hour workout by telling me that I actually put on 0.2 pounds, but I digress.
It is a test of willpower and discipline for me to see if I can go 5 weeks without weighing in. I am also testing the "If everyday was like this, you would weigh xxx.x pounds in 5 weeks" theory, so I log those numbers daily and in 5 weeks I will average it out to see if it is true. I need something to do!!!

Varies widely for me ... sometimes once a week, sometimes several times, but always first thing ... after the loo, before my shower, all dressed up in my birthday suit.

I used to get all tied up in knots when I weighed every day but when I finally realized that our weight really can fluctuate by a few pounds from day to day, I calmed down. I tend not to care much about ounces at this point.

I weigh myself twice or thrice daily. All the numbers get plugged into a chart that tracks what my reasonable changes are. The weight I display on MFP is the mean of the latest sample with statistical significance:P
  • I only weight myself once a week, Monday mornings before eating or drinking anything. And, I don't weigh myself at my TOM. I am always 3-6 lbs heavier. So, why depress myself with numbers like that?

I used to weigh every morning but since I added weight training and more cardio it changes from day to day so I stopped. I only weigh in once a week now with my trainer.

I weigh twice a day, everyday. I know there will be ups and downs, but it keeps me straight.

I weigh my self once a week. I am not sure if that is the best way to weigh.
  • 10 days ago i got my husband to hide the scales! They were ruining my life! I was obsessed - weighing every day sometimes more than once and then letting the result dictate my mood! I have been eating well and exercising loads and only have a few more pounds to go so i decided to concentrate on fitness goals instead of weight!

I decided to weigh myself monthly only! I did however go to the scales in Boots today and weigh myself (before a short holiday) my BMI is down, my body fat is down, and i have lost weight! I have also noticed i can wear much smaller clothes! Maybe the stress of weighing was ruining my weight loss??? mmmm :ohwell:

I do the exact same thing except I weigh daily in the a.m. and then occasionally at other times in the day. Good idea about weighing before and after a run though! I hadn't thought of that...
