My favorite is # 4 - it always worries me to see people on here saying they're losing for their wedding or a high school reunion or something like that. You're exactly on target with your question of "what happens after?".

Lose for yourself, for your health and for life!

    Great blog post!

I like and appreciate the sentiment of your thoughts.

However, for me. I was fat, I could not lose weight, as I ate too much, and it was not until I was diagnosed with high blood pressure that I made the life style changes required to lose weight.
Today, I can look at your list and agree. A year ago, I would have harumped and dismissed your thoughts.
For me, once I "had" to make a change the rest came relatively easy. In addition, as I made life style changes and the weight started coming off. The easier it was to make more changes and continue the process.

Thanks for sharing and good luck on your journey!

A lot of it I agree with and did myself. Most recognizeable was the "i'll do it tomorrow" attitude. That was me for a long long time.

However, with #1, negative self-image is hard to shake off. For some of us, it is that brutal reality that gives us fuel to succeed. I am by no means a thin person having a fat moment. I've been fat most of my adult life. The brutal truth is... I am fat. It's not sexy. I'm not pretending otherwise. But that negative energy stemmed from my failure image-wise is what has fueled me to lose 20 lbs in two months and keep trucking to another 20 and my final goal.
