It depends on the person's current weight, how much they want to lose, maintain, or gain, and what their activity level is. I would say that the myfitnesspal calculator is fairly accurate. :-)

For a woman, no less than 1200 calories. For a man, no less than 1800 calories.
  • Not less than 1200 calories a day

A bit too general. It depends on your size, your gender, your goals, your exercise, and frankly, your genetic body type and general health. If you have thyroid issues, are postmenopausal, diabetic or pre-diabetic, or otherwise chemically-challenged, it's going to change.

Has anyone said "42" yet? OK. 42.

Sorry - it all depends on you. Give MFP the answers it asks for, and it'll give you back a reasonable approximation of a good daily total for you personally. If you find it's not quite rifght, you can tweak it to suit you. But it's a good place to start. Hope this helps
