Hi everyone. I am new to myfitnesspal and excited to have a community to support and urge me on. I was thinking today that I've been on so many diets that it is strange how none of them really counted calories. I've always counted points or ate pre-packaged foods so, calorie counting will be new.

A little about me. I have been overweight for all my adult life (I'm in my late 30's) and I want to lose this weight, physical and emotional, before I'm 40. Life is too short to be living this way. I am scared and unsure because I have "tried" so many different times without any lasting results. I was so close to believing that I was destined to be fat my whole life and just settle for a life of unhappiness, guilt, and shame. I almost got there too and sometimes that notion does come back but I refuse to believe it for too long. I had a great friend help me see that I was created for a life of happiness and joy.

I want to do this. I find that it is hard for me to finish things I start. This is one of the reasons why I joined MFP. I need the community support for the times that arent so good and for the times which are great! I am looking to connect (this is really hard for me since I LOVE to isolate). On that note, I am looking for "friends" here. If you are looking for a buddy or interested in helping me with support please also "friend" me. I am a great supporter of others but learning to be the same for myself.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I look forward to knowing this community better.

Best.
