Hey y'all
I'm Brittany! I'm a short, sweet, and spicy shot of SoCo from the Midwest! I just turned 21 about 2 months ago and I'm finally ready to really make a change in my life!
I've "battled the bulge" all my life so-to-speak, even with dancing 6 days a week for 5+ hours a day...I was the "token fat girl"..but, I had talent, and those skinny girls will admit that! The last 9 months, my family and I have been battling something much more than the bulge. My mother was diagnosed with stage 3, estrogen positive, breast cancer. I moved home from a state university to care for my mom through chemo and keep my 9 yr old brother positive while my dad pulled overtime to make up for what Mom wasn't bringing in. I've put on about 50 lbs since her diagnosis..so, to say the least, you could assume that I eat my emotions. But, not only do I EAT my emotions.. I BAKE them too!-What can I say? Sugar is good!!! (Mom just started radiation 2 weeks ago, but we're getting closer to remission!!)
Anyways, my dietician (ugh, I just hate that word!) referred me to the site, and I do like what it does for me. But, now I'm ready to mingle
Needless to say, looking for friends that can lend an ear to talk or be some sort of viable support for me.
I can't wait to get things rolling!
Thanks for listening
Hope we can shed the pounds together!!

Brittany,
Fellow short girl here! You sound like you have an amazing story. With all that you have conquered, this battle of the bulge will be nothing! Feel free to friend me.0 -
New to the website or to wherever you just moved? Either one can really drain you emotionally. I just started on this site a few days ago. I am 23, a single mom, student, and I've got two jobs. Eating healthy? That just hasn't fit into my shedule well lately...and I've gained some poundage. I actually like healthy food, but it's so much easier to shove some donuts into your pie-hole in the morning than to choose wisely. And sweets are oh sooo delicious.
You sound like a strong woman. I wish you the best with your mom and the situations surrounding hat have come into your life. Medical technology is constantly growing with leaps and bounds. Don't give up! And while it would be a bit self-centered to actually say "sorry, mom, I gotta take care of my own stuff," remember that you can't give your all to others if you aren't taking time and care for yourself. Phisically, emotionally, spiritually, etc- just remember that life is not as sweet in any situation unless you are able to be fully present with whomever you're with and whatever you're doing.
This is a bit strange to me as I've never been all yee-haw about my weight or health with anyone I don't know...but hells yeah, Let's shed some pounds together!0 -
