Stationary bike-related questions

Good morning dears!

So I need a couple of tips to make the stationary biking effective..

In my apartment gym, we have the kind of a bike that you sit back on and ride, not the spinning kind.. Whenever I try to bike fast, the whole machine shakes (I'm 214 lb) and if I increase the resistance and go with the speed that the bike won't shake, my back hurts. Its not a big resistance. I usually don't suffer from back ache from any other kind of exercises.

Am I doing something wrong? This may be a stupid question :p but I can't figure out. I seem to have the right distance between my seat and the pedal.

Thanks!

I think recumbent bikes work your stomach muscles as well as your legs.. more than the upright bikes. I think your back problems may be related to this. Maybe your abdomen needs strengthening to protect your back?

Edit: I am not a professional. Please take this info with as much care as you would from any other nutter on the net :P

I certainly don't want your back to hurt but maybe if you did it for several days in a row your back would get used to it and it wouldn't hurt any more?
