buffet -- good idea?

My favorite restaurant is an indian buffet. The chef they have there is excellent, and each dish in the buffet tastes like it was made to order. The ambiance is wonderful and the waiters are wonderful. And their naan bread is the best I've ever tasted. I have tried many indian places in my city and none compare or come even close.
We don't go there very often -- twice a year at best, but when we do go we eat until we feel like we would die if we ate another bite and we feel sluggish and nearly ill for a couple of days. The classic binge.

The thing is, it's really not that expensive IF you go there for lunch rather than dinner and if you don't order drinks. I've been thinking that I'd get my "money's worth" even just taking one small plate of veggies and then another small plate of whatever I feel like in the buffet and then a small dessert (also in the buffet menu). I'd still be getting about the same as I'd get in a restaurant with a menu, for a decent price. And it would be a larger meal than most, in terms of calories, but not terrible either. If I had a smaller breakfast and a smaller dinner, I could even stay in my calorie allowance.

But the ONLY way this would work would be if I go once a month, say the first Tuesday lunch of each month. That way I can discipline myself and say "I'll get a plateful of that next time" meaning "next month" rather than "in 20 minutes".

Do you think this is a good idea or do you think I'll overeat anyway and do it too often? Has anyone else tried something like this? Do you think I'm better off staying with my feast twice a year (my birthday and if one of us gets a promotion or something)?
