Has anyone ever heard of this?

Well. I drink sugar free energy drinks and I haven't gained any weight.
That being said, they ARE high in caffeine and it is a diuretic, so I would make sure you are drinking enough water through the day to counteract what the caffeine does to your system. The weight gain you've seen is probably water retention - drink more water to flush your system out.0 -

I am not really sure of the particulars but it has been proven that diet drinks cause weight gain. It's strange:huh:

Haven't heard of this specifically with Red Bull......
But any sugar-free drinks are highly suspect! If a product is sugar-free, that means it's got artificial sweeteners & other chemicals in it which are NOT good for you. Diet drinks in general are not a good thing. I think the chemicals may make one hungrier & want to eat more? It did to me when I used to drink diet Dr. Pepper once in awhile. :grumble: :noway:0 -
calories put on weight
FYI: A lot of these don't have any calories in them or if they do - it is a small amount like 10 or 20 calories per can. So, unless you are drinking 4, 5, or 10 of them a day - I doubt the small amount of calories are making her gain 3lbs.0 -
I should also note to the OP:
I am highly sensitive to a lot of artificial sweeteners - but not to sucralose that is in most of the sugar free energy drinks. Perhaps you are sensitive to it? I can not have aspartame at all - it makes me really sick.0 -
I drink them daily but make sure to drink enough water....
They arent healthy, but curb my sweet tooth.0 -
sugar free drinks make your body crave other sugary things, and anyway, red bull is just full of absolute rubbish, so cut them out! the sugar free red bulls have loads more caffeine that the regular one apparantly.
and here's an article i found in my health and fitness magazine: ''cut your diet coke habit if you want a slim waist line, say experts in the US. research by the university of texas found the waist lines of people who drank two diet fizzy drinks a day increased five times more over the twelve years of the study than those who didn't. the experts say 'taste dysfunction' is one of the reasons: artificial sweeteners in diet drinks are so sweet they cause our bodies to crave other sugar-laden food''0 -
I don't know why anyone would want to drink Red Bull or similiar. I don't see any benefits.
What's wrong with just plain oul water?0 -

Hm. Well, I disagree about them making me crave other sugary things. They don't make me crave sugary stuff. But, that's just me.0 -

Same reason drink juice, coffee, tea or anything else besides water.....
They like them.
I'm assuming ALL you drink is water.. no juice, no tea, no coffee, no pop, no beer - NOTHING besides water. Because if you drink anything else - I'd have to ask you WHY you drink it.
Because you like it, right?0
