Hi there,
I've been going to the gym for about a week now, and I'm not really sure what all to do lol
I've been starting off on the treadmill for 20 minutes (at a speed of 3.2-3.5 for the majority of the time), then the recumbent bike for another 20 minutes, and then the elliptical for 15 minutes. I'm gradually going to up those times, but I was just wondering...on a normal gym day what do you do? What kind of machines, etc do you do? Any recommendations?
Any input is appreciated![ ](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Thanks!

Probably just depends on your level of fitness...sounds like you are doing it right by increasing each time.
I did the same thing, but on the treadmill I also kept increasing the incline until eventually it was at its highest.
Ex. 30 min. high intensity/incline on treadmill
15 min. on elliptical or bike-increasing speed/resistance
15 min. Strength training w/ weight machines
***Then you could always hit the floor and do some ab work for another 5-10 minutes.
***Then Push-ups...start w/ 15 and then move it up as you go. (5 min)
Going to some group classes and getting some moves you can do also is really helpful. Find new ways to torture yourself!!!Naw...its worth how you feel afterward. Happy Exercising!

Try warming up for 5 minutes at a 2% incline. Then increase either the speed going as fast as you can for 30 -60 sec and recover at the 3 -3.5 mph for 2 minutes. do this for 30-40 minutes. It will boost your metabolism and increase your stamina.0

I do elliptical on an interval setting for 30 mins
About 80 crunches - and I rotate the different types I am doing to try to get at different muscles.
The rowing machine for 8 minutes, four with my hands on top of the bar and four with my hands under the bar.
Sometimes I will do the weight lifting machine circuits.
I am trying to mix in classes and running. Variety seems like a good thing.0 -
I try to change it up whenever i can. I love exercise so I think I exercise probably more than most people.
Today's workout for example:
1.3 mile run to the gym
35 minute stairclimber at 6.5 floors a minute
15 minute walk on the tredmill at 15% incline and at speed 3.5 (I alternate between walking forwards and backwards for 2.5 minutes each and drop the speed down to 3.1 when I walk backwards)
Then it's onto abs
- medicine ball twists with a 10lbs ball that work the obliques (3 sets of 30 each)
- medicine ball leg lifts where I do crunches while at the same time lifing my legs and holding a medicine ball in the air (6 sets of 15)
Then it's onto the weight machines
Today I did legs so I did the hip adduction, hip abduction, leg extension, leg press, squats, lunges, and heel raises. All are 3-4 sets of 12-15 reps
That's all done in the morning and then at night I do anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour of Wii Fit.0
