Seriously lacking motivation!!

What do/have you guys ever done to get yourselves out of a rut when it comes to motivation?
I've been a member now since April and have lost 13lbs, I'm happy with this and happy for my weight loss to be slow as I've noticed that I've had blow outs such as holidays/vacations, birthdays, weekends away and I've not piled the weight back on (which I would have done it I'd lost the weight quickly like I have in previous attempts).
The trouble is I've been around the same weight now for a few months at least and I just keep going between the same 3lbs. I'll have a surge of motivation and exercise every day, my food diary is immaculate and I lose 3 lbs in 2 weeks and then I go the other way and eat what I like and abandon MFP for days on end and put it all back on again. It's like it's all or nothing with me, there's no middle ground.
I am still unhappy with my weight and appearance so it frustrates me that I can't seem to find the motivation again to take this seriously and give it my best shot again for longer than a week or so. Not trying to make excuses but I do find the planning of the weeks food and cooking hard to fit in sometimes with studying, university placements and a part time job but I know that when I'm in the right frame of mind I do make it work for myself and there are plenty of people in my situation who manage to control their calories and exercise.
Anyway, I rambling! Any tips guys? Who's broken through this type of attitude and how?

Once you kick any sugar habit and chemical foods. THing with food coe easier. ALl the chemicals in processed foods and sugars in foods mess your natrual chemicals up which slow weight loss down, can cause healthy problem and depression. Set yourself small goals and stick to them. Each one will add up to the end result.

I think most of us could say we have felt the same way. I have an 18 month old, work full time, my 89 year old grandfather lives with us and am trying to find time to exercise and plan my meals! It's hard that's for sure, but the rewards are amazing.
One of the big changes for me was my commitment to logging in everyday. I have logged for 105 days as of today and some days I go over, some under and some it's just to put something in. The good this is that if you have a day that you just log something to log, you still have to log the next day and are more likely to get back on track!
Have seen people set mini challenges on a daily or weekly basis: complete 100 jumping jacks, 50 sit ups and take the stairs at work for example. This week I am avoiding the silly vending machines and am going to exercise 5 days a week at least 45 minutes!
Just take it a day at a time, make each day count by making good choices!! I always look back and see how much more weight I could have lost if sticking with my plan more and commit to doing better this time around.
17lbs until my initial goal of 150lbs and plan to be there by Christmas!!0 -
sounds like your definitely on a plateu!
I dont know how to pick you up, because tbh im like completely out of motivation aswell at this point..
But to get out of the plateu, you could try zig-zagging your calories!!
Iv never done it before, so im not completely sure how it works..
But i know that, like day one you increase your calories by like 200 and have a high carb day,
then the next day you decrease your calories, (from ur starting amount), by 300 and have a low carb day..
And the high carb day boosts ur metabolism, and then low cal day, means u eat less and therefore loose more weight that day..
So all in all, it should push you under the 13pounds!
So that you can carry on looseing weight the normal way again!0 -

Thanks, I usually do eat clean fresh foods but I'm going through one of my bad phases at the moment. However I did realise when I changed my diary to include sugar the other day I was over by lots of grams and the culprit was the fruit I was eating and the fruit and fibre Kellogs cereal, which I think of as a non sugary cereal. Any tips on how to cut down sugar? Is the sugar that comes from fruit ok if it takes me over my daily limits? Thanks again0 -

People think they Plateu But the truth is they have days were they binge eat and most of the food they are putting in the body are bad unhealthy foods so yeah you will loose weight SLOW or start gaining it back.0 -
Motivation is an elusive concept, if you ask me. One way I stay motivated is to read posts on MFP. It helps me to "hear" other people with the same struggles, successes, etc.

Ohhh.. one last thing. My OWN successes motivate me. One thing that helps is I have a scale that measures fat percentage. Sometimes when I plateau, I notice that my fat percentage is going down, so I don't get so hopeless. That scale helps.

Fruit is OK!!!! Fruit is not the Problem\!!!!! Processed foods sugar drinks bars Sugar Cereals ect. Just eat fruit and no other forms of processed sugar or artifical ones eithere.
2 pieces a day with protein. if you get a craving for sugar eat a piece of fruit. Try to stick to 2-3 servings a day. EAT your Veggies! WHole grains ect Also watch Milk it has alot of unneeded sugar in it. SO does Yogurts0 -
Hello! I also have lost 13lbs since April, I was at a stall for a couple months and I did a Shakeology cleanse, (it is a 3 day cleanse) I followed the instructions and to my surprise I lost 5lbs then I thought It may be water but never gained any back in fact I lost 2 lbs a week for like 3 weeks in a row. So maybe a cleanse of some sort will work for you aswell. I know when I seen that I lost 5lbs I had more motivation than I could handle. LOL0

looked at your diary and it's very sketchy and hard to draw any solid conclusions from it. I would suggest being true to yourself... log everything, everyday..watch your body, see how it responds, and you will know what works for you and what doesn't.
i have 2 or 3 fruit a day... keep my sugar low and still lose weight. there are many things to look at... and they all work together to help a person eat healthy and lose weight.0
