I've always thought some kind of martial arts or combat training would be a great way to get in shape and learn some skills. Has anyone tried krav Maga, martial arts, or some other combat training? If so, what did u do and what would u recommend to someone overweight and outta shape?

Kickboxing is one of the better ones for weight loss cause its fast paced. tae kwan do was my personal fav lots of kicking and elbow strikes ( they really work the tricep) but any martial art is good for you except judo all that through is really not very good for your back and its very easy to get injured learning it

It depends on what you want. For application in a real-life situation something like Boxing or Krav Maga is probably best. Many of the martial arts just don't apply to a real life sitaution where you have to defend youself. From an exercise perspective any of them will work you hard. Ju Jitsu would also be a good MA and all fo the ground work can be very intense.

I found a place close to home that blends many modern martial art, tactical training, and street fighting styles including kenpo into the training. I guess this place moves around and is training out of church right now??? I'm just worried that if I go there my skin will start burning and people will hear the voice of my possessor come through... I get really self-conscious about that as church folk generally don't dig it.

I joke! I joke! (((as head turns all the way around)))
