Renae and Carrie, congrats on staying within your calories!
kjllose, Hang in there! I have done a lot of emotional and holiday eating too. I've gained 8 pounds. So you are not alone. We're here for you! Check in here when you can so we can keep tabs on you.
Bobbie, how'd your appointment go?
Mary, V, Cp, and Petrushka, sounds like you all are doing great! I love this board! You all are so motivating!
We had friends over last night and they brought a meal and it was SOO good! It was a good thing I had to leave for church because I wanted seconds! Food is always better when someone else makes it...well almost always. We really enjoyed their company. They are sweet people. We went to church and facing the small group of people wasn't too bad. It has been amazing to me how I want to complain but when I open my mouth that's not what comes out! God has really been working on my heart through all this!
Goals today:
Stay within cals
drink some water
go grocery shopping
try to get a walk in
take it easy
Hope you all have a blessed day!
MM

Ended up not working out yesterday, as there was an incident at the office involving fire truck, ambulance and police. (one of the members came in "impaired" on an unknown substance) I was there until 8 pm answering police questions, etc. By the time I got home at 9:15. . .no yoga was happening. At least it's never boring. . .

So, for today, I'm doing some form of cardio this evening. I'll probably run/walk intervals in between the office and choir practice. . .

With yesterday, using my new "get the workout goals in. . .no matter what day they occur on" plan, I've used up my two days off already this week. If I miss another day, then I'll be in "doubling up" territory, which will be a real test of my commitment. (Like having to do cardio/weights/yoga all on the same day. . .which would be an interesting challenge for me. . .) It just sucks to live in a world without a definite "time off work". . .I guess that's how a lot of people need to do it all the time, so I'm grateful that it's only temporary.:ohwell:

Take care of yourselves. . .:flowerforyou:

I'm happy to hear things are improving - if only mentally!

I'm sore - yeah! Before weights class began yesterday, the teacher was telling us what we needed for class (ball, weights, band, etc) - she was saying "I'll be using 8s and 10s (weights) and a set of 5s, but you may need 6s and 8s." I went up to grab the 6s and she said, "Oh, YOU don't need 6s." It was a nice feeling - and she was right, though I can do shoulder raises with 8s. I wish we were able to do italics in these forums. Didn't go for a bike ride yesterday, but went for a walk and to yoga as well.

    Today - walking.

    Happy workouts!

I feel like I'm just watching the time fly by! Three classes in 6 weeks is starting to get to me and it's only day 3! Thankfully I'll have this weekend to work ahead on some of the essays!

I've decided to "pig out" and eat about 500 calories for lunch instead of my normal 300. Hopefully this will give me more energy for my afternoon classes and I can really clean house and workout after class instead of just trying to keep my eyes open. Dinner will be lighter but that's no biggie because I was really full last night and had mini corn dogs to use up some calories. So I'm thinking chicken and a big salad sounds perfect!

Well, I'm off to pick up the house a little and run to class!

Hi MM, thanks for thinking of me. It is nice to know someone else cares. Vivia, I hope your strike doesn't last much longer. You can get your exercises in, I know you can! Mary, sounds like you had a killer workout. I know I can't lift that much. My daughter is going to let me use her bowflex during the week. What is considered a good starting point, 2 lbs? lol Hope I can lift that. Renae, what kind of classes are you taking? I would have a lighter supper tonight but it is my hubbies turn to cook and he is making me stir fry. It's nice to take turns.

Okay girls, this is what complacency and emotional eating gets you. Take a good look at my ticker. Thats right, a big hit where it hurts. So I am back to logging faithfully and doing my exercise everyday. I know it will take awhile to make gains again but I know I can do it because I have done it before and I have all of you to keep me motivated.

Hey, everyone! My appointment went pretty well. Cholesterol was down a few points. All the different kinds where they were supposed to be. Good numbers. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't way down. Back when I used to exercise a lot - and maybe not even as much as I do now - my numbers were in the 130's. Now they are in the 190's. So, I guess it must be the aging process and some genetics thrown in. My doctor was quite pleased, so I am, too. My weight was down 7 pounds from a year ago, so that was a nice change! My doctor was very encouraging about my weight and exercise goals. Thanks for asking, MM!:flowerforyou:

I went to a yogalates class tonight at the Y while number one son went to basketball practice. It was fun. I think it will help improve my balance a lot! With all the exercise this week, I'm a little sore across my shoulders and upper back area, so I'm treating myself to a massage at the Y tomorrow after work. I am really looking forward to that.:drinker:

I did weights and spin class this morning. I'll do weights and spin again tomorrow morning.

I put a big slimline container of water on my desk at work, so I'm really downing the water now. It has a spout on it, and I just keep refilling my 32 oz drinking cup.

Hope everyone has had a good day today!

Hello all! Sorry about your setback, Karen - we all have them, but it's a new year and we are here for ya.

I am still doing my after-lunch walk at work - it is nice that I have a group of people to walk with most days. We even put the appointment on our calendars and everything. So at least when I don't get to the gym (like today - forgot to wash my sports bra  ), I don't feel too bad about it. I still am planning to do my pushups before bed.

Did I tell you all that I set a date to defend my master's project? The "defense" is where I go in front of my committee (2 profs) and do a big presentation/demonstration, let them ask me questions, and then I leave the room and they decide whether I've done enough for my degree. Yikes! My date is February 19. I really hope I am ready by then. I'll still have a week or so after that to polish up the written portion if I need to, but all the work has to be DONE! Scary.

So I am going to be working my little butt off for the next 6 weeks. (Actually, it'll be my brain I'm working off... the butt might get a little bigger  ) Wish me luck!
