Sugar Alcohol

I bought myself some of the Hunts Snack Pack Sugar Free Vanilla Puddings to kind of switch up my snacks a bit, but I noticed that while they're Sugar Free, they do have 6g of Sugar Alcohol.
So my question is:
1) What is that?
2) Is it worse than just plain ol' sugar? Should I have just stuck with plain pudding and dealt with the sugar that was in that?
Thanks in advance!

I know that it will make you go to the bathroom a lot if you eat more than just one Other than that I am not too familiar with sugar alcohols, I believe they may be healthier for diabetics and those with dental issues who need to avoid sugar0

in moderation the sugar alcohol is ok. It takes longer for the body to metabolize the sugar alcohols and if you consume too much it can interfere with weightloss.0
