Having issues!

Hi all,
I have done really well on this site since the beginning of October.... it's the only way I have lost my baby weight after 2 years! Now that I only have 2 pounds to go, my body keeps yo-yoing. I am so frustrated! :ohwell: Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    I've still got a long way to go, but...others have said, when they get to a plateau, they have a free day, where they eat over their calories, and this seems to help them, that together with drinking plenty of water, and stepping up your daily workout.
  • I have heard that same thing...maybe just try and shock your body into losing again.

    I am no where near my goal weight yet but I have always heard it is so hard to lose those last few lbs. Dont give up you are almost there.

    I just changed my goal to 1/2 pound per week, so maybe that will wake up my body again! Thanks for all the support!

    I'm not trying to discourage you so please don't take it like that.
    Are you happy with the way your body looks & feels? Aside from being able to say your whatever your goal weight is. 2lbs probably won't make alot of difference. To often we get stuck with a number on the scale when really we should be looking at how our clothes fit and how we feel.

    I know about the yo-yo on the scale. I have a 3lb thing depending on if I've eaten restaurant food (more sodium than I'm use to) and the what day of the month it is.
    Keep working out, eathing healthy and working towards maintaining where you are. If you really feel that you need to lose 2 more lbs then maybe up your cardio.

    Change up your workouts! Try something fun like spinning or step class or swimming. Or a new workout video if you like those. It will make you feel good and energized which always helps.

    2 pounds is just a number. Your body weight can fluctuate 5 pounds a day. Best practice is to have a goal that is a range.....for example: between 140 to 146 pounds rather than a specific number like 143 pounds. At this point, I'd recommend that you go into maintanence mode. Continue eating properly and exercising regularly. If you have a really small calorie deficit from your maintanence calories like maybe 200 colories less than maintanence then those extra two pounds will go away eventually.

    Maybe your body has found it's happy place! i know my goal is 150, but if i get to 170 and it wont budge without some serious working out, i'm not going to stress over it. your body will know when its at the right spot :)

    Yea, I really should focus on the positive! I am in my pre-pregnancy jeans! That totally rocks! :bigsmile: I need to re-focus my goals! Instead of worrying about the pounds, I will focus on toning. I still have a bit of a muffin top when wearing my jeans! I am also training for a 5K in april.... so let's see if I can keep myself off the scale at least a week at a time. Instead of 5 times a day! Thanks guys! Good luck with all your goals!

    That's probably true! I have never been under 130, at least not doing it the healthy way! This must be were my body wants to be! :smile:

    I agree that two pounds maybe is not what your body needs to lose. THe body hates change and will generally fight to stay where its comfortable, so it might be telling you " i'm good- how 'bout you?" IN any case, here's some tips from my website that have worked for me in the past. Good Luck!


    -TO BREAK A PLAEAU: these are some hints and tips I've heard through meetings, articles, chat boards of things that have either worked for myself or worked for others.

    - MIX IT UP. Try eating a large dinner at the breakfast hour and work your way though the day, eating breakfast for dinner.

    - Stop excercising. For some insane reason, this has worked for me.

    - Start Excercising. For another insane reason, this also worked for me.

    - Up your points or calories by about 10 % per day. Yes, this too worked for me.

    - Eat nothing with more than 2-3 grams of sugar for a week. Yup, worked for me.

    - Lower carbs for a week

    - Increase dairy for a week

    - Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water. worked for me.

    -Try going vegitarian for a week

    - Switch up your program completely. Instead of weight watcher points, try counting calories, try www.myfitnesspal.com or instead of caloires, try counting carbs, sugar grams, etc.

    - Switch your excercise. If you usually walk every night, try swimming, or the ellitpical. If you usually do the elliptical, try playing tennis.

    -In any case, try 'blind weigh ins' where you simply do not see the weight on the scale. If you do not know, you cannot be frustrated, right? That way, you can concentrate on how you feel, instead of the numbers on the scale. Do this for multiple weeks until you are satisfied that you may have broken the plateau or that you wont let your frusrtation get the best of you. Have someone write the number on the scale down, wherever you record it and dont look!

    - Its incredibly easy to simply stop your efforts when you dont see results. This is what I did. I plateaued for months. Nothing helped. I worked out like Richard Simmons and a half, then did nothing, ate more, ate less, ate little or no sugar, nothing. I stopped for awhile, gained and it seemed to have acted like a 'reset' button. Luckily I did not gain enough to do much damage...It was like taking a step back and then taking four steps forward. This may work for some, may not for others. In the past, when I stop, I gain it all back and then some. But for some reason, this time I caught it in time and got back on track and started losing again.
