hi there, I've been with MFP < 1 week and I keep reading things I don't understand. I'm hoping someone can help, is there a "members cheat sheet?" :-D

I'm talking about terms or letters.... I.e.
30 DS
Shread
NSV, or was it NVS ?

Anyway, it seems like there are quite a number of these things.

Also...I see things like ...closed... Yet you can get in too read. .??

I just want to make sure I don't miss anything that may helpmeet be successful.
Thanks!
Judy

    This is privileged information, sorry. I can't exacerbate the security of MFP until you're cleared through security.

    Koos I am pretty sure your use of exacerbate was incorrect in that sentence. :P

    Hi Judy,

    NSV is a non-scale victory, meaning visible progress that doesn't show on the scale - pants looser, someone commenting - that sort of thing.

    30day shred (or 30 DS) is a DVD program by Jillian Michaels.

    C25K is a running program - Couch to 5k.

    Bump is a small line of cocaine.
  • 30 DS= 30 day Shred
    NSV= Non Scale Victory.
    Good luck on your weight loss!!:smile:

    LMAO!

    NSV = non-scale victory
    30DS or "shred" = thirty day shred, a Jillian Michaels DVD
    TOM = time of the month, or "period"
    DH = darling hubby
    SO = significant other
    EVOO = extra virgin olive oil
    BUMP = "bump up my post" if someone wants it brough to the top of the list so it can be seen, or just to save it in "my topics" to read later
    C25K = couch to 5K, a beginner running program

    any others?

    Hi JB and welcome to MFP! As you read through the message boards you'll find a LOT more things to ask about, lol! Feel free to ask away, someone will be happy to help you out!

    On your specific questions...

    30DS is Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred exercise video/DVD.

    Shred - refers to above.

    NSV = Non Scale Victory, meaning something that acknowledged your weight loss that has nothing to do with a scale. An example might be fitting into a smaller pair of jeans, or a coworker asking if you've lost weight.

    Hope this helps, and Welcome again!

    Do a search on Jargon Buster in the message boards.

    30DS or 30 Day Shred is an exercise programme from Jillian Michaels that is very popular amongst MFPers.

    NSV is a non-scale victory... ie getting a compliment or fitting into a pair of old jeans that used to be too tight

    I've tried to update the jargon buster as and when I become privvy to new acronyms :bigsmile:

    When you read "closed" it typically means the challenge has been filled and no one else can join that particular challenge created by a MFP user. You can still read the thread as they are open to everyone.

    That is why we should NOT be drinking wine while we are in the forums...or, wait...maybe that is EXACTLY when we should be drinking wine. If everyone did it, drink wine, that is, there wouldn't be so much drama.

    WOW. I had no idea MFP was so full of nuts - or I would have joined sooner!!

    Thanks for the help and the smiles. BTW (my niece told me that one:D ) I am incredibly gullible so when I read the "bump is a small line of cocaine" response I thought - oh my, are that many people using cocaine for weight loss? Thanks for straightening that out! I was going to have to look up 'dealer' in the LC phone book!

    Seriously, thanks for the help - truely appreciated!
