For those of you consuming about 1600-1900 calories a day, I am curious what exactly are you eating to reach that amount. I know I have to eat more in order to lose and break my plateau. Do you consumer higher calorie food or eat often? I'm finding it difficult unless I am consuming high cal meals. No I don't eat junk either but I will throw myself a little snack every night.

I eat 4 - 5 meals a day - and I started losing again after I significantly upped my fat calories - yes fat. I added healthy fats (virgin coconut oil, avocados, egg yolks, nuts, even cream top yogurts). I try to get a good balance of carbs, protein and fat in every meal - but the fat really fills me up and gives me energy. My food tastes better, is more satisfying, and I find I'm actually eating less quantity of food, but the quality is much better. Just make sure you add the right fats, and watch the sugar. My percentages look like 40% fat, 35% carbs, 25% protein. It's working like a charm for me... but I was eating like zero fat before - now I see that it's actually really important.
Good luck0 -
A couple protein shakes in skim milk usually give me an easy 500+ lean calories a day. It's a good filler since I actually get too full if I try to EAT that many calories.0

I eat more and eat more often. Eventually you will get used to it and be hungry more often. Feel free to check out my diary for ideas! :flowerforyou:0

I eat about 1800 to 2500 calories a day. I'm not a "clean" eater by any means but I think I eat mostly healthy. BUT I've been on vacation so the last week or so of my diary is empty. I generally eat 3 eggs for breakfast cooked in butter or oil (nothing today because I had NO food). Today I had chicken sausages for lunch and will be having steak for dinner. I drink at least a protien shake a day. I have salad dressing, skim milk, full fat cheese, fruit, etc. The key is to stay away from "diet" foods like Pam, fat free cheese, yogurt or dressings, chicken breast 2 times a day, etc.0

dont fill your body with junk, you will lack energy and your body will suffer... who cares if you look weight if youre still going to look and feel crap. and your more likely to fall off the wagon after the weight is lost unless you change your eating habits0 -
Yep - add some healthy fats and nuts - it normally does the job - and then a little bit of dark chocolate - just because I can ;-)0

"reduced fat" yes (except cheese, full-fat cheese is so much yummier) but there is no need for "fat-free" when you have the calories for more.0 -
calorically dense foods;
nut butters
nuts
oils
ice cream
pasta

I think the OP was related to how to get that many CLEAN calories. Not just the junk we're all accustomed to eating...0 -

Most people on here are not eating like they used to before they started trying to lose weight. For some people, healthy eating is entirely new and usually more difficult. And no, we all haven't been eating over maintenance for a long time.0 -

Agreed with sweetzone. I never knew how many calories I was consuming I started using this and infact there'd be days where i'd only consume 1000 calories THINKING I was doing myself a favor infact I was really harming myself and slowing down this process, so no your rule doesn't apply to everyone on here. Besides how many skinny people do you know out there who eat and eat and eat but can never gain a pound? Unless you know a persons lifestyle and eating habits you have no buisness making assumptions like that.
Yes I am curious about how to maintain that amount with clean eating. I keep thinking less is more i really need to get rid of that thought process. There's days where I have no problem reaching that amount but other days where I can only consume 1300 and feel completely full.
Thanks everyone for your input. I guess i've been on the right track I just need more quanitities.0 -

I thought that way to, until a few days ago when I upped my daily cal level.
Sure getting calories in is easy, 95% or more of us here know how to do that. Getting them in without eating crap, is a whole different story.0 -
Almonds + dark chocolate = 280 calories0
