Question about Activity Level and Exercise

Okay so I'm a server at a restaurant. I work 4 days a week and then 3 days a week I'm at college. Should I change my profile from sedentary to very active and take the extra calories a day OR log work as my workouts? I'm only 5'0 so 1200 calories suits me quite well. What do you all think?

I would see what the difference is between activity levels (I think it'll be around 300ish? maybe more) and set your activity to sedentary. Then on the days you work, add in that number of extra cals in your exercise diary.
  • Good idea! Thanks!

Are you really sedentary when you're at college? Because I did a LOT of walking around campus when I was in school. A lot more than I did when I had a boring old desk job.

I am manager, so I put my level at sedentary, cause if we're staffed correctly, mostly I spend my time in the office fixing screwed up paperwork, trying to anticipate sales, making sure we're not spending too much on labor. But when we aren't fully staffed (which is more often than not) I'm on the floor, sometimes actually running from one end of the restaurant to the other. But I consider that a bonus since I pretty much never work out. I also never make my calorie goal, so take that with a grain of salt, my goals may be a little too low because of the activity level I chose. That said, when I actually do make sure to log my food and try and stick to my calories, I drop weight fantastically quick because of the extra calories I burn at work.

I'd say play with it a few weeks at one setting, then switch. Find a calorie level that works for you.
  • Well I only have one class. When I'm not in class I'm usually cleaning the house etc. Usually I go running on the days I have class.
