Cold Dip Pool after exercise

So today, after a pretty intense work out for me, I decided to try the cold dip pool afterwards....it was freezing *as it is supposed to be*....
Anyhow, I hated it, but I don't have that dull ache in my shins like I have been getting...not sure if the cold dip helped or not. Googled it and opinions are all over the place...I am curious if others do this on a regular basis...or if you think it isn't a good idea and why....

I wish I had access to a cold pool ... it really keeps the aches away0

Being in the medical field, I wouldn't. I've seen many animals die from similar experiences, long walk in hot weather then bathed on ice bath or cold hose and the body went into shock and DIC which most times lead to their passing.
Luke warm, ok to me. Ice or 'freezing' cold, I'll pass.0
