I have always done only cardio for my workouts. I would like to add strength training 2-3 times a week as I'm learning this is an awesome way to boost metabolism and burn more fat. I also understand I can continue to burn more calories post workout. I need some help getting started. Not really sure what exercises to start with, how many reps, and if I need to adjust my diet to accomodate these new workouts. I would also like comprehensive exercises that are going to target all areas not just areas here and there. If anybody has an suggestions/advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

I just started too and I am using the book ''the new rules of lifting for women'' it has 6 months of program in it so it never gets boring. In only 3 weeks I saw alot of changes in my body. It is the best 10$ I've spent!!! The workout take about 30-35 minutes. It use the whole body, not just isolate muscles.

    Good luck

Any advice for someone with no access to a gym? I only have weights that adjust up to 25 lbs, right now I can only really use them with no weight on. I'd like to change that.

I bought Charlean Extreme. My weights adjust from 5 to 25 lbs. I lift heavier than I ever thought I could.

I'm currently doing Stronglifts 5x5. It's a 3 day a week workout using compound lifts. It starts out low and you add weight progressively. I just bought the New Rules of Lifting for Women book after peeking at the thread on here. I think I'm going to adapt my diet closer to what's in the book and add the routines later.
