How do you count stairs?

So I am on vacation and no gym and looking at doing other exercises. I am in an 8 story condo unit so I am doing a workout by going up and down the stairs. If I go for 18 minutes I get 237 calories. My question is since it says upstairs should I stop my timer once I get to the top then start it back up when I get back to the bottom or should I count both up and down. Under stand that it takes me twice as long to go up than to go down! (Wow that statement sounds weird?) Anyway any input would be appreciated.
Thanks! BTW did you get your workout in today?
