Another Running NSV

I started a C25K program earlier this summer. I hit a mental block when it came to running two 15 minute intervals with a 2 minute recovery. I could jog 12 minutes, recover 2, and then jog 20+ minutes. I just couldn't do the two 15 minute runs. I decided that it must've been mental and went out today to just see how far I could go. I resolved to run over a mile, but push for the "5K" mark (3.13 miles) on my route.I began with my usual 3 minute walking warm-up. Then I started to jog. I hit the mile mark at around 11 minutes. Slow? Totally, but whatever, I wasn't racing anyone. It was a great day for running. Uppers 60's, slight wind, overcast, leaves starting to turn... When I turned the final corner and saw the hill that marked the last 1/4 mile or so, I was so proud of myself for not giving up I could've cried. I finished my little "5K" in 37 minutes. Yes, I know that's super-slow. As someone who, once upon a time, could run a sub-6-minute mile, it's even a little embarrassing. I just have to remind myself of a few things: 1) it's been 13 years since I ran at that pace, 2) I could only hold that pace for 1 mile, and 3) I'm trying to lose weight and get healthier, not train for the Olympics.
Bottom line; I wanted to know if I'd be able to finish a 5K without walking and the answer is a resounding, "HECK YES!!!"
