I have followed Weight Watchers and always lost on it. Followed Jenny Craig until I realized I absolutely could not tolerate the food:sick: and lost weight on it. Actually lost weight on every diet I tried but Atkin's which I gained weight. Would do things over and over. By the third day on all of them I already started the negative comments. I set my self up never to continue with any of them for long. I have only been here for 4 days and every day I am more positive than the day before. Is there something that just clicks and poof you are ready??? Well anyway, I am glad to be here. You are all a wonder group full of support and advice. I really think its this site that I will have owe a wealth of gratitude in the end and this time I will reach the end.

Just stick with it. I came on MFP to keep track of my intake and my workouts. I love it here and some of these people have become like family to me and I don't know if I'd ever be able to leave this site just because of the support I get from everyone. Yeah...there is drama now and again but that's part of life...for the most part it's all peachy!

I move MFP because it showed me how to be in control. I don't have to rely on someone else's packaged system. It's just eat less and move more, but seeing everything added up daily in black and white is just so motivating!

funny you mentioned the word "clicked" because that is exactly what happened with me. one day i literally woke up ready to tackle my weight and unhealthy lifestyle. everything changed for me that day.

I like having friends on here that are going for the same goal! and there's no competition, which is something I love because I hate competition.

I agree.... it just clicked with me about a year ago. I always lost weight on other programs, but I lost motivation just as quickly. Using MFP, I've been able to get through my rough patches just by logging everything I eat and realising how easy it is to slip, but also that it's not ridiculously hard to get back on track.

It's certainly going to take me a long time to get where I want to be with my weight, but this time I'm prepared for it to take a long time. I'm not after a quick fix any more...

I have to say that yes I think something has to finally click, just like quitting smoking. It is what happened to me. Realized what I was doing to my body and how unhappy I was with myself. Found MFP and it made everything so simple and the support is so awesome here.

I just think you have to be ready in a forms. In my case you have to be so miserable you feel you're at the end and either have it be the end or do something about it. So now, I'm putting everything I have into losing the weight. And I'm not miserable doing it. I kind of wish I had started just counting calories sooner.

Yes, most people have to really be ready to make a change to make a lifestyle change like this stick. It's completely a mental change. Good luck!

Welcome! Are you sure you're not telling my story?? You sound just like me and I know exactly what you mean. For me, yes - it was like a light bulb - something did click and something is different this time. It's now or never - hehe. I can tell it's different because I've already lost more than any other time and don't feel like failure is an option this time. I know my attitude is different this time and you know what is really different? The fact that I am not thinking 'going on a diet or exercise plan' because then I automatically think (even subconsciously) that i will go off my diet or exercise plan someday... It's a lifestyle change this time. I want to keep a healthier lifestyle and really don't ever want to be in this position again (having to worry about shedding 50+ lbs) again!! So I have about 20 more lbs I'd like to lose - we'll see but I will do it dammit!!! LOL best of luck to you in your healthier lifestyle change!! Sorry to ramble... It's been 4 mos and I'm pretty passionate about Mfp!! There is great support here too :)

Like the others said... stick with it. You've got a good attitude right of that bat, and that is the only way you'll be successful. I love MFP! Have been here since July this year and have had great success. I never feel deprived, I eat what I want..... I am just always careful to log everything I put in my mouth. It helps me to be honest with myself and has truly changed the way I eat.

Good luck on your journey! We are all here to support you! This is NOT a diet...... this is a new way of living! :flowerforyou:
