I think I need a new HRM, mine sucks. I have a timex one, not sure the model. It was cheap. I didn't realize you need one with a chest strap. So needless to say I've probably been way off on my calories burnt. :explode: Any suggestions on a good one. My spouse says Suunto but I've also heard good things about the Polar FT7. Anyone have either of these.

I have the Polar FT40 and love it! And it has great reviews! When you are ready to buy look at Amazon.com....mine was much less there than anywhere else.

I actually just bought a Polar FT7 yesterday.
I'm already completely obsessed with it. You have to wear a chest strap with it, but the material is so comfy that I seem to forget I'm even wearing it.

It cost $110 (which is cheap compared to what I was looking at) and you can even swim with it on.

    Stronlgy reccomending it

I love my Polar FT7 -- it was about $75 on Amazon ---- if youa re primarily concerned about calories burned though, I woul spend a little more and get the FT40 or Ft60 so you can program your V02 Max --- might be a little more accurate but the Ft7 is awesome and seems very accurate according to my testing at the gym.

I have the Polar Ft4. It's good too. Comes with chest strap as well . I paid 135 at a local sports store. Love it!!!

Got the Polar FT60...a little more pricey, but I like the extras that it includes. I agree that the chest strap is non-binding and comfy...will end up wearing mine for hours some days because it feels like the band of my sports bra

All these FT models. I guess I'm going to have to make a trip to the sports store to check them all out. Thanks everyone.
  • I bought my Polar FT4 at Sports Authority for 80 bucks on sale. The higher the number goes up the more stuff it does. I like the one I have. It has a chest strap and calculates my calories. I love it!!!!
