Hi,
My name is Helen - am 44 year old female - been on 3-4 diets over the years - only ever had any real success on Atkins - which really worked for me as it helped me understand my bodies reaction to certain foods - but as usual I got complacent and went back to my old ways of just eating far too much...
Then I got a bad back a couple of years ago - and its still bad - have gained two stone during this time - since January have been on a strict low-impact fitness regime - pilates for back injury, small amount of swimming and now do the odd Aquaerobics class too - but often find that v painful as I get carried away with the fun of it.
Started trying to record my food on fitnesspal but just recording what I am eating was not stopping me from over-indulging half the week and therefore no weight loss.
Got to the stage a week ago when I was really determined to try and do something about it again - and came across the Dukan Diet book in the library - so borrowed it for a week - and basically decided to give it a go...
Am on my last day of the ATTACK Phase - so its veggies tomorrow - how great it is to actually look forward to eating a crisp salad and some veg :-)
Am finding fitness pal really helpful in recording the cals of what I am eating (though finding it difficult to get up to 1200 a day when its just lean protein..... but think this will be less problematic going forwards with the introduction of vegetables - as find only about 100 short of the recommended 1200..
Fitnesspal is also great for recording my water consumption, which before starting Dukan was generally less than 1 glass a day... Am now getting much closer to the recommended 8 (ie 1.5l) - can get to around 1.2 a day - hopefully body will get more and more used to have water and signal more frequently that it wants some. Not sure I can actually pee any more than I am already though - which is around hourly and several times during the night - again hoping once body actually gets used to getting more fluid that will calm down a bit!
So here goes - my weight-loss journey is beginning....

Welcome to MFP, good luck with your weight loss journey. I too have a problem of getting my 1200 calories in so my dietitian suggested I have a protein shake which will give me more calories but also the protein too. If you have a smart phone then download the free MFP app it i is great to have0
