    Reading that article brings back memories of a tragedy that took us all by surprise. A a co-worker of mine just 20 years old. She died after she did this same operation. She was such a cheerful person.

    It's scary that some HNS trusts would rather send someone for a lap band than actually treat the "illness" behind the patient's issues with food, especially in the young. And then having put someone through a major operation to leave them without the proper aftercare is double scary.

    I must admit, it did cross my mind that it might be an option for myself, until I actually stated to look at how much I was eating. Once I'd confronted that fact and started to get some exercise back into my life, I've found it a lot easier to keep to a programme of sensible portions, no snacking between meals and for the time being, no sweeties and biscuits.
