My diet exploded this past weekend . . . stress, indulgence, booze, atomic bomb. This has never happened to me before: I woke up this morning not hungry. I still had my cereal because I need to fuel my body, right? My 10:30 snack is approaching in an hour, I'm usually hungry by now, I don't foresee me becoming hungry again for quite some time. So, would you go ahead and have your normal 10:30 shake, or wait and see what happens at lunch? WWYD? Eat on schedule for the rest of the day regardless of hunger, or just wait until hungry?

BTW - when I read posts like this I usually say something that could be interpreted as at least slightly intelligent like "eat when you're hungry, just eat wholesome higher caloric foods, you still need to feed your body."

I've been asking that question a lot lately and usually go with not eating unless I'm hungry. I tend to feel too full and sluggish otherwise. Although I eat when not hungry when I've had too much caffeine.

If you're not hungry don't force yourself to eat.

i don't see any harm in not eating a snack if you're not hungry, you could have even skipped your breakfast to no ill effects (unless you had morning training and performance is effected during fasted training)

basically the most important thing is you hit your macro goals for the day, regardless of how many times you eat to get there

Don't eat until you're hungry. If you end up being way under today it will help make up for the weekend as it's supposed to be the whole week's average that counts.

i would skip the snack, and then see what happens when it gets to lunch time.

If I'm not hungry for a snack (especially in the morning), then I usually skip it. As others have said, skip your morning snack and see how you feel at lunch time. I don't see the benefit of forcing yourself to eat if you're not feeling hungry.

I would definately NOT eat unless you are trully hungry!! This is probably one of the biggest reasons most of us got here in the first place, not listening to our bodies true hunger sugnals and eating anyway...right?! At least that is what i think. My dietician has me on 7 mini meals a day and one main meal and i swear, i can not eat that many times in a day even if it s 100-150 calories per mini meal, it's still difficult for me. I am trying to listen to my body for a change and wait for the stomach growls. I think you will be ok missing a snack or two. Good luck on deciding!

I think I would go on and eat....do you know the number of calories that you are going to eat today?? Over eating this weekend probably messed with your metabolism. If you start skipping meals today you will just slow it down more.
  • don't eat if your hungry works to a point. you also need to keep a steady calories intake for your body so it won't go into starvation mood and lower your metabolic rate . you might not feel hungry but you will feel worn out. when i'm very tired I don't or if i'm busy feel hungry then all of the sudden i feel like i'm starving and end up binge eating . I say to avoid eating a lot at lunch ,and also to make your stomach smaller go ahead and keep the same eating schedule or maybe work out a new eating seclude.

Don't feel too bad. I did the saething this weekend. Went to a party out of town and ate everything in site. My weight is up but i'm not worried. I 'm not hungry either. I've had some crackers and water. Don't force your self to eat if you don't want too. I think you'll be fine. Hopefully you feel back normal tomorrow.

It takes longer than a day to get into starvation mode or to mess up your metabolic rate, so that's not the concern, this is just out of character for my body. It's lunch, I'm still not hungry, but i started getting that feeling I get when it's been too long since i've eaten (it feels like I've had a pot of espresso) so I'm forcing myself to nibble through lunch. Maybe it's just stress and everything will be back to normal tomorrow.

This happens to me pretty much every day. But I'm here because I was a chronic undereater. I eat on schedule, whether I'm hungry or not, because otherwise I'm trying to stuff myself after 5pm to get all my calories in... and that sucks.

Like other people have said, the only time I'd eat when I'm not hungry is if I knew I'd need the fuel for a workout. Without that I'd feel a lot worse than 'not hungry.' Of course, if I had the kind of indulgence that I'm imaging, the mere thought of food would make my stomach grumble with disdain.

Eat or not, but keep the water going. Sometimes being dehydrated will kill my appetite even though I should probably eat.
