Electrolysis experiences?

Hi everyone. As I'm starting to feel better about myself (woo hoo for losing weight) I'm considering electrolysis as a method for permanent hair removal. I was wondering if anyone has tried electrolysis (professionally done) and if they really got premanent results? I'm willing to spend my time and money doing this as long as it is actually going to work.

If the hair you want removing is reasonably dark, I'd go for laser rather than electrolysis. It's more effective, faster and longer lasting.
No hair removal is permanent - you'll have to have top ups from time to time.0 -
Electroysis is very painful and for me it idid not work. I had good luck with laser light removal but not 100% removal but a huge difference. Cost has dropped significantly since I first tried it I paid thousands of dollars now it is more like a couple hundred per treatment area. I also started using a product called NoNo it works great and it economical. Its an at home system.0

My step-sister has been doing it and she's happy with the results. She first did her legs and now she's doing her upper lip. (She couldn't do her upper lip during the summer because she was told that she shouldn't be exposing it to sun between sessions.) In any case, she's been happy with the results so far, but she hasn't seen long term results yet since it's just too early.0

I guess it really depends on the person. The NoNo did not work for me at all! (But I haven't tried laser either...)0 -
hi i did Electroysis at college it does sting when it is been done, it is perment but it does have to be done quite a few times for it work.each hair is done seperatley so it can be a lengthy process. see if there is a training salon it will cost you less. and the students all have to be confident and assesed doing it before tutors allow them to do members of the public.0

My ex-wife got it. It really improved her confidence. Like, she fianally had the confidence to sleep with other dudes.0

I'm doing laser treatments right now, and the change has been significant after only 3 sessions. I bought a Groupon for 3 sessions at a significant discount, and am sooo glad I did!0

I had it done about 5 years ago and a licensed Company in Orlando...It is very time lengthy and pricey, but i thought for $1500.00 to have my underarms and bikini area hair gone for good it was worth the $$$..After all of the treatments, I was hairless for right at a little over a year and then out of no where it all started growing back again....I called the Company and told them they said, well your hormones must have changed or maybe a prescripition I had taken had reversed the procedure, there were no guarantees that I would be hairless for life!!! I would have to come back in again, pay again and pray hair wouldnt grow back again, so now said to say, out the money all the time i spent doing it and still have hair.0

Permanent hair removal seems to have become one of my hobbies.. laser hair removal worked just okay on my legs and wasn't super effective the other areas where I had it done. It really depends on your skin type and hair color. I'm loving the electrolysis that I'm getting done on my face. I really like my lady and the machine she uses. She's had a lot done herself and her machine is the least painful she's ever used. I imagine your experience will depend on who does it and what machine they use. I tried two places for laser and one was much more effective than the other, I think it was both the machine and operator that made the difference.0

Not so good news: Laser or electrolysis are not truly permanent, especially since the hormone reasons for getting the excess hair continues to cause re-growth.
The good news: You will feel SO much better after doing it and it can be maintained.
I've had extensive electrolysis (over 40 hours under the needle)....it was painful, but it did work...for awhile. But within 9-12 months after finishing it was nearly all back (that was while I was on meds and my hormones were stable). A couple years later, after getting the courage to try again, I switched to laser and it is SO much better. Laser is much faster, a lot less painful, and the prices are getting better all the time. Because laser is a lot less labor intensive than electrolysis, laser places can more easily offer discounts. Any worthwhile hair removal clinician or specialist will tell you it is not really permanent.
Have realistic expectations. Don't expect to get everything treated and then no longer have to deal with it. The goods news is that once it is cleared up, you can keep it that way with maintenance treatments. When I was in college I wish someone had told me to do laser instead of electrolysis, it would have saved a lot of money, tears, and frustration. I am now on maintenance and go for a 15 min treatment every 2-3 months...very easy....and it looks great.
My suggestion, as someone mentioned before, check out groupon.com. There are often deep discounts on laser treatment....commit yourself to at least 3 treatments. Please feel free to message me if I can help in any way.0
