Good Morning! My name is Grace and I am in a rebound relationship with fitness LOL. After a brief love affair with self doubt with a side of junk food, I am finally back into jogging and hopefully soon actual RUNNING!

I work in one of the most stressful career fields known to modern society. I am a public high school math teacher! The stress, uncertainty and long hours are a dangerous combination, making it too easy to excuse the bags of Sun Chips, bars of chocolate and cases of Diet Mountain Dew that have been my mainstays for the previous three years. When I began hiding the chocolate, I realized it was time to step back from the desk! Over the past year and a half, I have lost 95 pounds, so I know I am well on my way to my final goal, but this is the part that is the hardest. The final push, one last great effort. I really want to get back to running my 5K in under 30 before next summer, but right now a paltry 40 minutes is as good as it gets. (Does that even qualify as jogging?) Everyone says to do it for your family... you owe it to them to stay healthy... blah...blah...blah... I want this for me! I love how I feel after a good run! It may seem selfish, but that little indulgence has so improved my outlook on life that my relationship with my family has gotten better.

I look forward to comparing notes with everyone on the forum.

Tschuess und bis dann!
Grace

Very positive outlook, I like that you decided to do this your own way and for yourself first and foremost.

Your family will be proud of you and that's the most important thing.

They wont be sitting there going "Oh dear, Grace didnt lose any weight this week, I feel depressed and unhappy now"....etc

However when they do see that you are doing this because you actually care about and love yourself, that'll make them happier than anything else, whilst at the same time, giving you further motivation to stay healthy and fit.

I personally cant run as I have a bad knee and it puts a lot of pressure on joints, if I could I would. So I cycle and swim and do gym workouts instead....and whilst it is taking me months and months to see a difference, I will not give up this time.

I'll be 30 in March and thorughout my adult life I have always battled with my weight. Always up and down and now: I just want to form a healthy eating habit combined with regular exercise. I am, it seems, unfrotunately sedentary at heart and that needs to change. Hence why this site could be my blessing!

Good to hear your story Grace and good luck, I think you'll make yourself proud.
