Question about weight loss goals

So, I have a question....I set my goals for my weight loss and based off of consuming 1200 calories a day and working out 5 days a week for 2 hours a day. It said if I keep this up then I will lose 3.7 lbs by Oct 24th. It seems like it should be a lot more than that. I am not sure how this is calculated. I even tried to customize my own goals and it still comes out to be the same. I am hoping to lose at least 10 lbs in 5 weeks. Does anyone know how I can customize it to where my target weight will be 10 lbs lost by October 24th? Thanks Terri

when you look under goals it asks how much do you want to lose per week. Have you changed that to 2 lbs per week? That's all I can think of...sorry.0

yes I did and it is still the same. Frusterating.....0

The exercise is not taken into account in your daily caloric intake. So to lose weight you need to eat 1200, when you exercise you should be eating more (eat those cals back) or you will not be getting enough fuel for your body.0

not sure..but personally working out that hard and only eating 1200 calories might not be a good idea.. may want to jump up to 1400 a day0

You don't have enough weight to lose to try for 2 pounds per week. Your body isn't really going to allow you to lose weight that quickly when you're so close to your ideal weight. Shoot for the 1 pound per week or so that MFP is telling you is doable.0

Since you only have 15ish lbs to go you should not expect (or have your goal set) to lose more than 0.5 lbs/week. With so little to lose you don't have the fat stores to have a large deficit, and if you try to increase your deficit you will risk losing a large % of lean muscle instead of fat. I am assuming you are looking at losing fat, not just weight.0 -
MFP won't give you a goal of under 1200 calories per day. If you want a bigger deficit, you'll need to burn the extra with exercise and not eat back the calories. Not really recommended but it's doable if you have a lot of weight to lose.
True, but with so little to lose increasing the deficit will most likely lead to a loss of lean muscle instead of fat.0 -
Thank you. I will just stay within my calories and exercise everyday and see where I am at by then. Thanks for the advise. Terri0
